Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
Meditation for 04/08/19
“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” (Genesis 8:22)
God promised those who had survived the flood that the forces of nature would act with predictable harmony. People, would, therefore, be able to plan for the future with assurance that sowing and reaping would still be a reality.
History gains stability and continuity through God’s promises not through human accomplishments. The constant factors of creation remain in God’s hand as a way of offering hope to His people.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Abba help us to always remember that Your promises are never made lightly, and are always kept. Let us, this say, recommit ourselves and our souls to You alone, Abba, that in so doing, we are affirming our covenant relationship with You now and for evermore. Amen.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“Doubt And Do without, Believe And Receive!”
KNOWING GOD:
“Lift up you eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.” (Isaiah 51:6)
The earth that God created is not His ultimate handiwork. This material dwelling place, as we know it, will some day be destroyed. It is already now in the process of ding. Even the heavens shall dissolve some day and be created anew. The only eternal things are those of the spirit, values related to God’s unalterable principles. Our hope for the future is rooted in God’s righteousness and the justice that proceeds fro it. He creates that hope as we are properly related to Him.
I AM:
Creation, Hope: (Psalm 65:5-13)
God’s miraculous works in redemption and creation give confidence to His people. The power of creation is compared to the power of stilling international turmoil. When we see that God is in complete control of His created world, we tend to relax with joy and confidence. His power, manifested in His watering the earth, enriches the lands He made. This enhances the fields, resulting in a continuous creation as vegetation abounds and the hills become fruitful.
Second Thought of the Day:
“He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promises long ago through his holy prophets.” (Acts 3:21)
Christ’s return in full glory and power will be to establish a new world order free from evil and disobedience. This restoration, beloved, is to include the redemption of nature and the perfecting of human society under the kingly rule of Christ as God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven.
The created world’s only hope is the return of Jesus to transform everything and make it once more a paradise as originally brought into existence by God.
