Meditation for 06/07/2019
“Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the says ordained for me were written in you book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:16)
Each person is a creative work of God. The physical processes in a mother’s womb and in the process of birth do not fully explain the formation of a new person. God is involved in each instance, performing a new wonder. The newborn child does not have to face meaningless existence. The Creator has plans and purposes for the people He creates.
God saw us when we were embryos. He had formed or created our days from the start; yet He has given us the real freedom to choose between life and death. Knowing He created us with a purpose, why would anyone choose death over life?
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Abba, help us to understand that life has its ups and downs, but that death offers us nothing but death. To choose life is to accept our relationship with You and a life long journey with You, to help others to know You as well as we do. We love you Abba, and seek to serve You each day, as best we can. In Jesus we pray. Amen
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“A smile is a light in the window of your soul!”
“But if serving the lord seems undesirable to you, hen choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the river, or the gods of he Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. Joshua said to the people, ‘You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.’” (Joshua24:15, 19)
Beloved, God’s people cannot serve Him and worship idols at the same time. Serving God is a conscious choice and an absolute commitment. Anyone who wavers in choosing cannot serve the holy, jealous God. Insincere commitments separate us from his forgiveness. Forgiveness always rests on God’s grace, not on what we deserve.
Salvation, Human Freedom: (Matthew19:16–30)
The rich young ruler is an example of one who rejected eternal life. Persons are free to accept or reject Christ. Those who accept Him will be abundantly rewarded here and hereafter. Those who think they deserve salvation or who seek to do something good to earn salvation have rejected God’s way of salvation by grace through faith.
Second Thought of the Day:
“This matter (circumcision) arose, because some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might remain with you.” (Galatians2:4-5)
God’s imperatives must be consistently applied in all situations. Public opinion should not be the cause of obedience or disobedience. We should not attempt to change back and forth from legalism to grace. We have a responsibility to confront the church anytime it leads us in any ethical direction which departs for the love of Christ.
Jesus Christ gives freedom. He releases persons from bondage such as religious legalism. Human systems exercised control over others. Jesus sets people free to attain full potential.
