Meditation for 06/10/2019
“For on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord, there in the land the entire house of Israel will serve me, and there I will accept them. There I will require your offerings and your choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.” (Ezekiel20:40)
God elected Israel to have a people who would worship only Him and would know Him in intimate relationship as the only God. He worked in love and wrath to lead them freely to conform to His will.
God gives us salvation by accepting us as we serve Him. Acceptance is an appropriate human respond to God’s salvation. Salvation requires our acceptance of God’s acceptance.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Abba, we love the fact that You are so patient with us and willing to guide us to freely accept You and Your will for our lives. So often, we strive to walk with You, yet find ourselves out of step and walking our own path, instead of the one You want us on. Yet, You gently guide us back onto the path of righteousness and love us where we are, even though Your desire is for us is to be better than even we can imagine. Our prayer is that we move more in Your direction than our own, and seek Your daily guidance, for it is in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“A bad attitude spoils the gift.”
KNOWING GOD:
“And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.” (1st Thessalonians 2:13)
God’s people recognize divine revelation through faith. We accept His Word as His Word and not as the word of a human being. A human being may have written the Word, but only because they were inspired by the Living God to write what was given to them by God. Acceptance means more than hearing and affirming. It means obeying the inspired Word of God.
I AM:
Salvation, Acceptance: (James4:8–10)
Acceptance of God simply means coming near Him in repentance and with deep grief over our sins. The washing called for here is ethical rather than ceremonial. God want us to accept Him with an undivided heart. He wants us to humble ourselves before Him like the penitent publican (Luke 18:13).
Second Thought of the Day:
Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.” (John6:26–27)
Beloved acceptance of Christ Jesus means accepting Him as the Bread of life. It is accepting the Father’s credentials that He is the Son of man and is thus able to provide life’s greatest need—-eternal life.
Accepting Jesus Christ is a personal decision that each of us must make for ourselves. We want our loved one, our friends, and for all people to accept Him, but it is not our decision to make, it is theirs. We must also recognize that even thought we might want to help them to make the decision, each will or will not do so on their own. Have you made this decision in your life? If not, what will move you to do so?
