Meditation for 08/14/2019

“So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you, do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” (Deuteronomy 5:32-33)

Each person is free to make moral choices. Those choices should be made within the responsible boundaries of what God has declared as moral and immoral.

Persons and societies outside God’s people offer choices which may entice, but such choices are not options if we trust and follow God. Ungodly society tempts God’s people with immoral sexual practices. No human logic can make it right for us to go beyond God’s limits in our sexual behavior.

Abba, people and societies are bombarded by those who seek to “normal” sin. Your Word is our guide to live our lives by, and even if society tells us it is okay, we Your people know Your Word and what is right and what is wrong. Let Your Spirit leads us in all things, that we would live moral lives in honor to You. We pray that our lives might have an impact upon those around us, but our ultimate goal is to live under Your will, and that we are to spread the Gospel message of salvation. This we ask in mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

Beloved, don’t try to use God; instead, ask God to use you!”

“They’ve rejected his decrees and the covenant he had made with their fathers and the warnings he had given them. They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless. They imitated the nations around them although the Lord had ordered them, ‘Do not do as they do,’ and they did the things the Lord had forbidden them to do.. They forsook all of the commands of the Lord our God and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts and they worshiped Baal. They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire. They practiced divination and sorcery and sold themselves to do evil in the eves of the Lord, provoking him to anger.” (2nd Kings 17:15-17)

The Israelites faced exile because of their determination to step over God’s explicit moral boundaries. Their choices for worship and life-style values demonstrated poor judgment on their part. Your life-style is shaped by whom and what you worship, beloved. Life is too important to waste it on idolatrous ways.

Christian Ethics, Moral Limits: (Habakkuk 2:12, 17)

“Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by crime! The violence you have done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, and your destruction of animals will terrify you. For you have shed man’s blood; your have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.“

Violence and bloodshed may bring short-term results to those who impose such methods. God will ultimately reject and punish such methods. In the 1960’s, there was a man that stood up to wrongful living, to those who spewed hatred, to those who abused a segment of our society that was different only because of their color. This man stood up to people who thought it was okay to murder and/or mistreat others because they were not white. This man was Martin Luther King. I grew to respect this man, because he did all of this in a non-violent way, when so many others thought a race war was the “right thing to do.” Ultimately, he was successful in his efforts to make significant changes in this country, though it also cost him his own life. There is a movement of hatred and violence growing in this country, and if we don’t look back and take the advice of Martin Luther King and his method of non-violence, we will tear the very fabric of this country into shreds.

Second Thought of the Day:

“Furthermore since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave hem over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” (Romans 1:28-32)

Human beings rebel against moral limits. God responds to continued rebellion by letting people carry their moral freedom of choice to absurd limits. Evil becomes standard opening procedure for such people. Even in the face of death resulting from their rebellion, they continue devoting themselves to immorality.

They lose the ability to distinguish right and wrong, being deaf to God’s voice. The simple, yet powerful message of loving one another and we have been loved, gets lost in the noise of the crowds. No one is listening, so they could not hear the message even if they wanted to do. The end times may come sooner than later, but for those who want to be in the kingdom, their entry will go smoothly, but for those who don’t even see Jesus’ return, it is going to be quite a surprise for them. Are you part of the solution, or just another rock in the way of any possible solution coming to fruition?
