Meditation for 10/14/2019

“I hope you will put up with a little of my foolishness; but you are already doing that. I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your since and pure devotion to Christ.” (2nd Corinthians 11:13)

Several New Testament writers use the marital relationship as a figure of the relationship between Christ and His church. Revelations has three (19:7-9, 21:9, 22:17) references. Ephesians 5:24-33 and 2nd Corinthians 11:1-6 also refer to the image of the church as the bride of Christ. John the Baptist identified the Messiah with the bridegroom (John 3:29).

The Book of Revelation contains the highest conception of the church as the bride. The bride is associated with the new Jerusalem which comes from heaven. The imagery of the bride suggests purity and faithfulness, as well as eagerly longing for the wedding day. As the bride of Christ, the church must serve Him with sincere and pure devotion.

Precious Abba, we must daily strengthen ourselves for the battle between us and the world around us, that would love for us to concede ever so softly, that our faith is not strong enough to get us through the day. In fact it is not, for we must place our faith in You at all times and depend upon Your strength to help us survive each and ever day. Our dependence upon You is paramount in our lives and we turn to You for wisdom, strength, faith, peace, and certainly forgiveness when we fall short of the mark we fail to attain. We love You, Abba, and seek a daily relationship with You, that will sustain us in all matters of our lives. It is this we pray to Your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

Promises are like garbage, they should be carried out daily.

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear. (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) Then the angel said to me, ‘Write: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb! And he added, These are the true words of God.” (Revelations19:79)

The marital relationship is sharply focused to describe the church. The bride makes herself ready for the coming of the Lamb (Christ) for the marriage. The church beloved, prepares for the wedding by witnessing, by right living, and by those actions which please the Lamb. The church must remain morally pure as it waits for the for the bridegroom’s appearance.

The Church, Bride: (Revelation22:17)

It is well established and noted today, that the marital relationship between Jesus, the bridegroom and the bride is the church itself. I am not talking about a physical structure or building beloved; rather, I am talking about the spiritual nature of us as human beings and our Savior Jesus Christ. We must guard ourselves against attack from the Great Deceiver, Satan, who likes to distract us, to whisper in our ears about how we are not so bad, that we don’t need to seek forgiveness at all. This is only one of his tactics to separate us from the Godhead, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Beloved, we know by reading and studying God’s Word, that we need to cling to the Godhead every single day and night. In order to be ready for Jesus’ return, we must maintain our own faith through prayer, study, and taking the Gospel message of salvation to all other people. Understand? I pray so.

Second Thought of the Day:

“The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mind and it is now complete.” (John3:29)

Beloved, we must be vigilent in waiting for the bridegroom. One day, that we are not aware of when it will be, our Lord Jesus will return at the Lamb, but not as He did originally as a humble babe, but He will return in all His glory with the host of angels accompanying Him seeking to marry the bride, the church.

All of this is in the Bible, and it will occur when we least expect it, but it will take place, just as it is explained to us. Are you ready? Have you accepted God through Christ Jesus His Son? Are you “cleaning up your house,” so to speak? Do you seek Him daily in prayer and study? Is your focus on Him? All of these questions should be asked of each one of us, and the answers tell us that if the answer to any of them is no, then there is still work to be done. I pray you all are like me, working on myself daily.
