“But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of your salvation all day lone, though I know not its measure. I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone. Since my youth, O God, you have taught me and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, o God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.” (Psalm71:14–18)
The gospel is good news that God has acted to meet our needs. In the Old Testament His acts included helping individuals escape their enemies cruel plans. In the New Testament He aced in Jesus Christ to provide eternal salvation.
In both Testaments God’s people respond in hope and praise, testifying to all who will listen to God’s mighty acts. Your can share God’s gracious acts. Do can senior citizens. Our responsibility is to be sure that the next generation knows what God has done for us.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Precious Abba, the good news is not only for us and our private gift. It is a gift to be sure, but one are to share with all we come into contact with. We are to evangelize young and old and everything in between. We depend upon Your Spirit to guide us to those whom need to hear the good news for themselves. They must accept it, as our responsibility is to present it to them. All this we pray in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“One birthday is not enough—-BE BORN AGAIN!”
“This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or eats up the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—-first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.” (Mark4:26-29)
The gospel is “the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes”. The message of the Kingdom is a small seed, but when planted in an open heart, it produces salvation. Our role is to take the gospel, plant in in lives, and watch God grow it!
“Evangelism, Gospel” (Acts 13:16–43)
The evangelistic message shows God’s work through all generations to prepare the way for Christ and Christ’s work to bring salvation. The resurrection is at the enter of the gospel message. The gospel calls on people to repent of sins, experience forgiveness, and believe in Christ for salvation.
Second Thought of the Day:
“Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—-to every nation, tribe, language, and people.” (Revelation 14:6)
As noted previously, the term gospel mean “good news.” It has a definite content. It is eternal truth that is the power of God unto eternal salvation for al people from all parts of the world if they will believe. In Peter’s sermon, as reported by Luke (Acts 2:17-40), He said, “Jesus was the Messiah. He lived a matchless life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead. He calls all to repentance and faith, promising forgiveness and a new life.
Beloved, this is the message of power, the good news we are to proclaim to all people in all generations everywhere. It clearly centers in Jesus Chris and His work. God by the Holy Spirit used that message to convert and save the lost.
