“In that day you will say; ‘Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted..’ Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.” (Isaiah12:4-6)
Obedience to the call of God to evangelize springs from thanksgiving for the Lord’s goodness.
When we realize all the glorious things He has done, we want to make it known in all the earth. When you consider what the average person’s evangelizing has done compare to God’s it may seem paltry. But God is honored by what we accomplish, which glorifies Him.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Precious Abba, You seek us to go out into the world and evangelize others, with the message of the Gospel of Salvation. You dance when we actually do this and someone responds! Wow, what a feeling that someone might listen to us and come to God through our Lord Jesus. This is our prayer today, that we are serving you in the manner You expect us to do. You are our God and always will be. Let our efforts bring upon You all the glory and praise. Amen
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent!”
KNOWING GOD:
“Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them; let all the neighboring lands bring gifts to the One to be feared.” (Psalm76:11)
God has acted in wrath against all powers of evil. His people respond with vows, promising to serve the Lord. Obedience to our Lord demands promising to serve the Lord.
Obedience to our Lord demands such a response, One vow God wants us to make is to tell the world of His salvation.
I AM:
“But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” (2nd Timothy4:51)
Although Timothy did not have the itinerant evangelistic ministry as did his mentor Paul, he was nevertheless to do the work of the evangelist where he was as God led him.
It was the only way Timothy could discharge all the duties of his ministry. Because all God’s people are ministers (Eph 4:11-12), the principle applies to all All are to do the work of an evangelist, that is, share Christ as we have opportunity to do so.
SECOND THOUGHT of the DAY:
“Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—-hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.” (Jude21-23)
Amid persecution and ridicule, evangelism is still the order of the day. We have cogent reasons not only to persevere in faith but also to call others to the gospel: 1) obedience keeps us in the love of God; 2) we are sharing the message of eternal life people need to hear; 3) we display mercy for the lost; and 4) People are saved from the eternal flame (Mt 25:41).
We are to do this great work in fear and holy living, hating all things spotted by the sinful flesh. To be obedient to our Lord, we must share our faith to all and for all.
