“Listen to me you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me; from my birth he has made mention of my name. He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver. He said to me, ‘You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.’ But I said, ‘I have labored to no purpose; I have spent my strength in vain and for nothing. Yet what is due me is in the Lord’s hand, and my reward is with my God.’ And now the Lord says—he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to Him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord and my God has been my strength—-he says: ‘It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends f the earth.’” (Isaiah 49:1-6)
Evangelism is an Old Testament teaching as well as one from the New Testament. From her birth as a people, Israel was called to be God’s servant through whom God would display His splendor to the nations.
Israel’s experience in Babylonian Exile appeared futile and without purpose.
Instead, it opened opportunities to expand their witness to the nations. Thus God’s message of salvation could reach the ends of he world.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Precious Abba, You intended to use Your people, the nation of Israel, to be Your servant and as a witness to all the nations. this is most assuredly the Word of God which brings us salvation, but also moves the people of God onto the path of taking the Word of God, that also ushers us His people into becoming missionary people in the pursuit of using Your people as the beginning of redemption for all nations. All of us and more, are the ones who picked up where Jesus left this earth returning to the kingdom, for preparations to one day return, when God gives Him the nod to gather up His people who have been preparing for the day Jesus is to return. Only this time He will come in His full glory and those who have made light of the return, It will be awesome and unmistakable that they were wrong. Beloved, it is in this, that we pray that all people will make the decision to accept God through Christ Jesus now, for upon His return, it will be too late. Amen
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“Don’t count the days—make the days count.”
“The Lord will be awesome to them when he destroys all the gods of he land. The nations on every shore will worship him, every one in its own land.” (Zephaniah2:11)
God’s judgment brings about evangelization. As God judges the sins of people, some learn to worship before the Lord. In sincere worship, which implies a true turning to God in repentance, they can find forgiveness and life through faith.
“Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, they will have no rain. I the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no raid. The Lord will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of al the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. On that day Holy To The Lord will be inscribes on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the Lord’s hose will be like the sacred bowls in frong of the altar. Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the Lord Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the Lord Almighty.” (Zechariah14:16–21)
God wants all people to worship Him. Past history does not exclude people from worship. People who refuse to worship face God’s judgment. The principle is applicable to people in all situations. Unless people truly worship God through faith in Jesus Christ, trust Him, and worship Him; or we will incur God’s judgment. Worship must result in holy living to be pleasing to God.
SECOND THOUGHT of the DAY:
“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ ‘Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets let them listen to them’ No, father Abraham, he said, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ ‘He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’” (Luke16:27-31)
People who persistently reject salvation in Christ face eternal separation from God in hell. There they will realize how vital it is to receive God’s forgiveness and life. The rich man, even in hell, was so aware of these truths that he wanted some to tell his brothers of the eternal fate of those who refuse Christ. The lesson is for Christians. It calls us to love the lost who face such judgment. Our witness can lead people to Christ and away from hell. Your choice beloved, so be very careful with your choice.
