He said; ‘The Lord came from Sinai and dawned over them from Seir; he shone forth from Mount Paran. He came with myriads of holy ones from the south, from his mountain slopes.’” (Deuteronomy 33:2)

God’s presence is an historical action. He comes to His people. God takes the initiative to be with His people. His people cannot passively find security in a place or time when we expect God to be present. God’s coming signified His historical rule over His people and His fight to determine their future.

Precious Abba, we must never demand Your presence, but know that when You need to be in our presence, You will be there. It is by pure faith on our part, that You will be among us, when it is Your will to respond to our prayers for Your intervention, and we trust in You to always show up. It is in Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen

Don’t let the littleness in others bring out the littleness in you.”

In everything he did he had great success, because the Lord was with him.” (1st Samuel 18:14)

The Lord’s presence, not human strength determines the outcome for God’s people. Human rules do not limit God. He can use a few people to gain victory if He chooses. No human cam compel God to deliver. God act as He chooses. Whatever human factors were involved in Israel’s victories, the writer confesses that God had “rescued Israel that day.” It then, and continues to this day.

Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us.” (Isaiah 8:10)

God’s purpose and presence represents the decisive factor in wars. The deciding factor is based upon whether you are within the will of Almighty God. You could have only one person against a formidable force, but if you have God with you, they will lose. If you are not serving God’s purpose, then even if you have the larger force, you will lose. Saul found this out, and so did David. When they chose to go into battle without first seeking God’s guidance, they committed a sin and God abandoned them and let them fall. Our first and only choice is to go seek God’s will about anything you are trying to do. If you are affirmed it’s His will, so be it. If not, you better rethink and seek His wisdom again.

But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the Lord. Be strong,” O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all people of the land, declares the Lord, and ‘and work for I am with you, declares the Lord Almighty. This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.” (Haggai 2:4-5)

God’s people can be sure of God’s presence because He has made historical commitments to be with His people. Israel received the commitment in the Exodus and on Mt. Sinai. Christians received the commitment in the cross and resurrection experience, in the Great Commission of the resurrected Christ, and in the Lord’s Supper.
