See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to how down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land yo are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.” (Deuteronomy 30:15-20)

Beloved, God’s covenant gives His people the choice of faith/life or rebellion/death. Moses set before Israel the choice between God’s salvation and their own destruction. The same choice still exists and is set before all of us to make. What is your choice?

Precious Abba, You have given us a choice between faith and life or rebellion and death. It seems like such a simple test, but so many choose the way of the world and lose their lives in the process. Abba, you ask for us to freely make our choice, as to living all eternity with You in the kingdom, or to choose eternity in the company of Satan and his minions. This we pray. Amen

Knowledge puffs you up—-Love lifts you up!”

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether to gods your forefathers served beyond he River, or he gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. Joshua said to the people, ‘You are not able to serve the Lore. His is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.’” (Joshua 24:15, 19)

God’s people cannot serve Him and worship idols at the same time. Serving God is a conscious choice and an absolute commitment. Anyone who wavers in choosing cannot serve the holy, jealous God. Insincere commitments separate from His forgiveness. Forgiveness always rests on God’s grace, not on what we deserve.

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” (Ephesians) 3:12)

All persons may confidently and freely approach God through Christ Jesus. We do not have to pass any human requirements. Prayer is done in absolute freedom and confidence, because we are in Christ and Christ is in us.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” (Luke 13:34)

The Pharisees were aware of Jesus’ danger and the possibility of His death. Jesus had known His peril and His destiny for some time. In this passage He described His sacrificial death in line with the fate of Israel’s prophets. Israel’s religious leaders in Jerusalem cause the death of the prophets and would cause His own. Jesus tenderly lamented over the city He loved and had tried to minister to. Jesus wept over those who were unwilling to let Him gather them under His saving wings. Is Jesus crying for you lack of choice to follow Him? It’s not too late, but a time is coming when it will be too late.
