“For on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord, there in the the land the entire house o Israel will serve me, and there I will accept them., There I will require your offerings and your choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.” (Ezekiel 20:40)
God gives us salvation by accepting us as we serve Him. Acceptance is an appropriate human response to God’s salvation. Salvation requires our acceptance of Go’s acceptance. This is the covenant we have accepted upon becoming Christians.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Precious Abba, You offer salvation to us and in return you accept from our service to and for You, while You accept our gifts and sacrifices to You. We do this willingly and fully. This we pray. Amen
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death!”
“One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purpose cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.” (Acts 16:14)
Beloved, accepting the gospel is not a human achievement. It depends on God opening our heart to make it responsive to the gospel message. Such acceptance was prepared by previous worship experiences. But once prepared, the gospel message will hit you like a “thunderbolt,” and you are changed forever.
“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” (James 4:8-10)
SECOND THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:11-12)
Those who accepted Jesus in faith became sons and daughters of God. It is God’s decision to accept as His people whose who trust Jesus for salvation. The opportunity for faith is a gift of God’s grace, not of human achievement. To belong to God’s redeemed family requires more than natural birth. God’s children experience a new spiritual birth through faith in Jesus, the diving Son of God. Only God can give the spiritual power to become His children. One of the integral parts of change in humans is the willingness to humble themselves before God in both true repentance and faith, and the grace of God returns His gift of the Holy Spirit to those who embrace Jesus as their Savior and recognize Him as the Son of God.
