Remove the dross from the silver, and out comes material for the silversmith; remove the wicked from the king’s presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness.” (Proverbs 25:4-5)

Proverbs clearly reminds us that we all are walking down the road of live, a road with two distinct branches. The road chosen by the wise produces joy, happiness, and a meaningful existence as well as eternal hope. The other road chosen by the foolish brings about heartache, sorrow, and ultimate destruction. There is no middle ground beloved, wisdom (the personification of wisdom in Proverbs) pleads with us: to acknowledge God as the Creator and Sustainer; to repent of our sin and to trust in God as Lord and Savior; to so order our lives in accordance with His will that His love will clearly be reflected in our relationships with our families, friends, neighbors, strangers, and even our enemies; to teach these precepts diligently to our children both in word and in deed; and to praise God for the fullness and joy that He provides along life’s way.

Precious Abba, a good silversmith will take extra time to clean out the junk, the dross in the melted silver, so that it becomes cleaner silver, worthy of its beauty. You, O Lord, do this with us. May we allow You to keep on removing the unclean “junk” in our lives, and allow us to become more like You, and do this slowly and purposely, so that our worth to You becomes as beautiful as the silver becomes, for our relationship with you is so much more important to us, than anything else. Hone us, to be a reflection in word and deed, and let others see more of You in us, than ourselves. This we pray. Amen

Jesus Christ is right for whatever is wrong in your life!”

Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds. Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done.” (Isaiah 3:10-11)

Moral depravity is apparent when those who claim to be God’s people parade their perversion proudly. Blatant sin assures disaster. Bragging of sin when God’s glory is available invites the end. God has created a world order in which people and nations eventually receive what they have given others.

If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.” (1st John 2:29)

God is righteousness, meaning that He not only opposes what is evil but is he source of what is right. He actively seeks to make His people righteous. Righteous lives reveal God at work. Beloved, God is the standard of righteousness. Followers of Christ are His born again children who imitate His actions by doing right..

Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy.” (Revelation 22:11)

The call to repentance will one day cease. Human intentions to change will never have another chance to become reality. Thus apocalyptic calls us to repent and become holy like God before that day comes. In that day people will not suddenly become righteous. He holy will “continue to be holy.”
