“Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” (Isaiah 65:24)
Prayer will be an integral part of God’s new creation. The faithful God will respond instantly to His people’s call. Now if you’ve rejected Him or turned away from Him, you must seek His forgiveness for your sins, before He will listen to you, but not for His people, see the difference?
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Precious Abba, today we recognize God’s gift of our being able to call upon Him through prayer. We see the progression, Abba, whereby You allow us the ability to talk to You anytime and we thank You, for this gift. Today we continue to pray for those who are suffering in body, mind, and/or spirit, with friends, family, for those we don’t know, especially the people in Ukraine, as they are fighting for their very lives and way of life. Amen
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“Prayer should always be our first resource, to pray to God—-not our last resort.”
“I will strengthen the house of Judah and save the house of Joseph. I will restore them because I have compassion on them. They will be as though I had not rejected them, for I am the Lord their God and I will answer them.” (Zechariah 10:6)
In verse 7:13, God would not listen to their prayers, but in the restoration He promised to answer. In Jeremiah 7:16, we see that at times, people cannot pray. The initiative in prayer is with God. He allows people to communicate with Him in His grace, God declared Israel beyond the reach even of prayer. God does not change His mind. His present purposes must be worked out. God will not hear prayer for a faithless people who have brought forth His wrath and judgment. Later God responded to Jeremiah’s pray in time of drought with another command not to pray.
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world cause by evil desires.” (2nd Peter 1:3-4)
The new life of our salvation comes from the power of God. It is an extension, or conclusion of the power of God displayed in creation. It provides everything we need. God’s promises are vital to a praying Christian. The character of God is utterly reliable.
2ND THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.” (1st Peter 1:17)
Prayer is a ‘calling on’ God. Prayer history began that way. Although we call on Him as Father, we should do it reverently, without forgetting that He is also an unbiased Judge, faithful to His own character. Prayer is an awesome responsibility that should not be taken lightly.
