For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:18)

Access to God is through Christ Jesus and His work as Redeemer and Advocate, and by means of the Holy Spirit.

Precious Abba, today we recognize the gift of prayer in Christ Jesus as our Redeemer and Advocate with God. He intercedes on our behalf, and God hears us in our prayers. Today we continue to pray for those who are suffering in body, mind, and/or spirit, with friends, family, for those we don’t know, especially the people in Ukraine, as they are fighting for their very lives and way of life. Amen

Have no fear in tomorrow—-Jesus is already there.”

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—-yet—-was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-16)

If Christ had never become human, an approach to His throne would be either intimidating or insolent. Our High Priest understands the human situation totally. He has taken part in our natue and, therefore, understands every aspect of that natur from within. He is not hostile to humanly but is one of us. He wants to help each of us be the kind of human being He was, and He knows how to help. When we come close to Him, we approach a nature like His. Therefore, we dare to approach with boldness and confidence.

For Christ did not enter a man made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence. Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood hat is not his own.” (Hebrews 9:24-25)

The true sanctuary of God is heaven itself. The atmosphere is holy. Christ, who is perfectly holy, can rightfully enter that atmosphere. At the same time He is favorably disposed toward us.

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God. Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:19-22)

These verses are the Christians’ guarantee of access to God. The High Priest is Himself a living way into God’s presence. His sacrifice has cleansed us from sin that would prohibit our entering God’s holy presence. We are required only to have sincerity and faith. Then we can say whatever we desire to God, knowing Christ is on our side.
