I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods. The Lord does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths. He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.” (Psalms 135:5-7 – Creation Freedom)

Beloved God has established laws in this world, but He is not a slave to them. He is a free personal Spirit and acts in accordance with His wishes. He created the world apart from Himself and yet controls that which happens in it. No human or supernatural power can prevent Him from accomplishing His purpose. Nothing in heaven or earth is equal to Him. He rules over the powers of weather and fertility as well as all other powers.

Precious Abba, You have created a world that You have allowed to mature and grow, yet it is not under our control, for He controls all of His creation. He did give us the power to take care of this world and we have not done a very good job of that. We have allowed our earth to dry up and crops do not grow as they once did, yet we continue to use more water than is necessary. We have been given this world by God to protect and use our resources rightly, but we squander them for our own personal uses. We deal with wild fires and floods and hurricanes and tornadoes, because we have stripped the land of its resources and find hunger in every corner of the world. Father forgive us our sinful lives by misusing our freedom and becoming selfish users of what resources we have left. Let this terrible mistake sink into our minds and hearts and help us to use the freedoms we have been blessed with, to once again turn back to You; thus, leading to a restoration of Your creation. Today we continue to pray troops serving in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, that a peaceful solution might be found and let the fighting be silenced. We also pray for those who are suffering in body, mind, and/or spirit, with friends, family, for those we don’t know. Amen

When searching for tomorrow the first thing to look for is God.”

Man’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” (Job 14:5 – Creation Freedom)

Job complained that God, his Creator, had established certain boundaries to his life. One with mature insight realizes this must always be a part of freedom. If we were granted unconditional license, we would ignore the disciplined life and indulge in unprofitable and unwholesome activities. Though God wants us o be free, He has wisely established limits to ou liberty. Only in this way can we be truly free! Freedom is not the absence of God bu the opportunity to work with the Creator responsibly to maintain His created order.

Therefore I will take away my grain when it ripens, and my new wine when it is ready. I will take back my wool and my linen, intended to cover her nakedness. So now I will expose her lewdness before the eyes of her lovers; no one will take her out of my hands. I will stop all her celebrations: her yearly festivals, her New Moons, her Sabbath days—-all her appointed feasts. I will ruin her vines and her fig trees, which she said were her pay from her lovers; will make them a thicket, and wild animals will devour them. I will punish her for he days she burned incense to the Baals; she decked herself with rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers, but me she forgot,” declares the Lord. (Hosea 2:9-13 – Creation Freedom)

Brokenhearted because of his wife’s unfaithfulness, Hosea saw a parallel between his experience with her and God’s with Israel. Though God had blessed the nation and promised her a glorious future, she had refused to follow Him in faithful obedience. He has the freedom to confiscate gifts if the receiver fails to show proper gratitude. If a group of people become unusable, God can do one of two things. He can throw hem away completely as His instrument of blessing, or He can discipline them until they have been purified sufficiently. That which applied to Israel as His Servant also applies to us as God’s servants. God calls us to His service and expects us to respond to His loving call in faithful service.

One day Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.’ So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and work Him saying, ‘Master, Master,’ we’re going to drown! He got us and rebuke the wind and the raging waters, the storm subsided, and all was calm. ‘Where is your faith?’ he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, ‘Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and hey obey him.’” (Luke 8:22-25 – Creation Freedom)

The Sea of Galilee is fairly small and when the wind picks up, it is no wonder that small craft such as Jesus and his disciples were end would most certainly be tossed about and probably even swamped. The disciple’s fears were very real and when they woke up Jesus, his response to them was direct; “Where is your faith?” Do you think Jesus’ actions were by coincidence? Guess again, beloved. Jesus, during His earthly ministry, supplemented His teachings and acts of compassion with signs revealing that He controlled the elements of nature. God established laws whereby the universe operates, but He remains above them. God is a free, personal Spirit and has assigned all things to the Son. To validate His earthly ministry and prove Himself Lord of everything, including the natural forces, Jesus occasionally gave a personal demonstration of His power. This strengthened the faith of His followers, helping too remove any doubts that arose as they faced indifferent people and even hostile enemies. We need to realize that God does not work a miracle every time we capriciously desire one. If, however, He feels His redemptive program needs one. He has the freedom to act in a supernatural way for us.

So we have talked about the many creation freedoms, let’s just a a minute talk about freedom as it applies to each one of us. I once had a man tell me that he believed in God, and that was enough. I pointed out to him that so did Satan, in fact, he was vying to be god. Our God loves us more than we could ever deserve, yet he allows us as individuals to freely make the decision to believe in Him and that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. Small problem though, we cannot make this decision for anyone else. Each of us has to make the free choice to love Him in return and to follow the example of His Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. There are people around the world we live in that are not allowed to hear about Jesus or that we can decide on our own to follow Him. Our job is to inform other cultures of this freedom and just haw important it truly is. We have to blessing to tell others of how Jesus went to the Cross and died to atone for our sins,, as he was without sin. This gift is not to be held onto for ourselves, but to be shared with all we come into contact with in our daily live. Today is the 4th of July in America, a day when we pause in our busy lives, to remember those who sacrificed their lives for this gift. It is one of the most important things that we can ever do for our Father in heaven, to tell others our stories, of coming to faith in God through Christ Jesus. So, go forth to serve our Lord every day, with whomever we are with, and for whatever reason, as you just never know when Jesus will be with you, when you make a difference to someone else and their decision to follow Him too!
