“Keep all my decrees and laws and follow them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out. You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they had all these things, I abhorred them. But I said to you, ‘You will possess their land; I will give it to you as an inheritance a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from the nations. You must therefore make a distinction between clean and unclean animals and between unclean and clean birds. Do not defile yourselves by any animal or bird or anything moves along the ground—-those which I have set apart as unclean for you. You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, and holy and I have set you apart from the nations be be my own.” (Leviticus 20:22-26 – God Reveals His Intentions and Purposes Through Fellowship with His People)
The God of promises repeated His purposes to His people, declaring His plans for a land of much abundance and hope. He also reminded Israel He had selected them to be a separate and unique nation (holy), totally distinct from their neighbors.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Dear Abba, You have made abundantly clear Your purposes to be our God and that we would be Your people. Thus, You carved out an land of abundance for those who would serve You, by being obedient to Your decrees and laws and in return You would give us all our needs and we would prosper. Today we continue to pray our troops serving in faraway lands and those in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, that a peaceful solution might be found and let the fighting be silenced. We also pray for those who are suffering in body, mind, and/or spirit, with friends, family, and for those we don’t know. Amen
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“The Son of God became the Son of man that He might change the sons of men into the sons of God.”
“A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 2:24-26– God Reveals His Intentions and Purposes Through Fellowship with His People)
The simple pleasures of life can reveal God’s work. Human green discounts such pleasures, finding meaning only in the accumulation of goods over which we have no ultimate control. Such a self-centered view of life loses God’s purposes of fellowship, service, love, and value in human community.
“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” (1st John 3:2 – God Reveals His Intentions and Purposes Through Fellowship with His People)
As children of God, we belong in the same family. God ha not yet revealed what we will become. We do know when Christ appears we shall be with Him, know Him in His true nature, and become like Him, thus renewing the image of God. That is a secure and comforting revelation.
SECOND THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
“Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.’” (Mark 3:34– God Reveals His Intentions and purposes Through Fellowship with His People)
Anyone who follows the purposes and intentions of God is linked with Jesus as a family. Those who perform the same acts and have the same attitudes are the true “blood” kinship of God. Family ties are created by following the Father’s words, that is is putting His revealed will into practice. The initial and most important step in following Go’s will is placing faith in Christ for salvation!
