Meditation for 08/08/2019

“Do not lie in wait like an outlaw against a righteous man’s house, do not raid his dwelling place; for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity.” (Proverbs24:15-16)

Marks of righteousness are those actions which reflect perseverance, courage, compassion, consistency, integrity, peace, joy and a sense of what is appropriate.

The rewards are the respect of your neighbor and the care of God. Beloved work for good and justice. The results will allow others more possibilities for doing the works of justice. Wicked advisers can destroy a ruler. Do the right thing, regardless if no one is watching you, for the righteous person lives a life by example, not simply by word.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY:

Abba, we seek to be examples of Your righteous and just, and ethical standards, not simply to look good; rather, to be an example of the right way to live our lives. Let others see us and model their lives after ours, as we strive to live and walk as Jesus walked. Amen

THOUGHT OF THE DAY:

Be not simply good—-simply be good for something!

KNOWING GOD:

“If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea. Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be cut off nor destroyed from before me.” (Isaiah48:18-19)

Obedience to God is rewarded individually and socially in the fruit of justice and righteousness. We do not have the just society we desire because we do not obey. Thus, God has to work in strange ways such as using Cyrus of Persia. God is working to create a people who will fulfill he promise to and mission of Abraham. If you think God will wait on us to quell the violence and disobedience in our society today, think again.

I AM:

Christian Ethics, Righteousness: (Matthew 23:28, 35)

Attitudes shape actions. Over a period of time our actions will betray the hypocrisy and evil we harbor. Those whom Jesus addressed prided themselves in outward pious actions, but their attitudes and goals were wicked. Judgment is certain for hypocrites who build their own reputations at any cost. They will have to endure God’s vengeance for all the truly righteous people these religious hypocrites persecuted and killed.

Second Thought of the Day:

“Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy.” (Revelation 22:11)

The call to repentance will one day cease. Human intentions to change will never have another change to become reality, beloved.

Thus apocalyptic calls us to repent and become holy like God before that day comes. In that day people will not suddenly become righteous. The holy will “continue to be holy.”
